She usually models form in soft materials, but also works with casters and foundries, as well as reproducing her own work in bronze, ceramic, resin and stone. Sophie creates bold lightweight pieces with willow and found materials, recently making big sculptures for festivals. Sophie makes commissions for both private and corporate customers, responding to and working with their ideas. Since graduating from Winchester School of Art in 1979 Sophie has continued to make 3D art, developing and expanding her practice.

Her work has included over 30 portrait commissions, architectural details for historic house renovations and works for national television. In addition to her own collections, between 1988 and 2005 she designed garden statuary for several leading manufacturers. She has been employed in arts education in a number of roles including residencies, arts workshops for serious offenders and teaching Art and Design in Further Education. She has worked as a mentor and creative industries business advisor, and teaches sculpture to adults and children.
