High Tide

Hope Cove High Tide

Artist Statement

Although I live in Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District, the sea is in my blood and my current distance from the coast is temporary. The coast remains the primary inspiration for my painting. I want to tell a story and achieve a full sense of a place. Each piece is born from my strong visual and emotional memories, where my associated thoughts are as integral to the painting’s creation as the shapes, colours and light. I work in oils, both in the studio and direct from the landscape.
